ADULT CHICKENPOX

Diary of an Adult Chickenpox Sufferer

DAY 7

WARNING

Some pictures may make your skin crawl!!

Day 7: 10.00 am Tuesday Morning - Well it was not an unbroken nights sleep and I got up twice, but nether the less, I am feeling 100 times better. Moral is up and it is obvious that many of the spots are now scabbing over nicely. Although this in itself is causing some itching, it is nothing like the early stages. I am going to try and keep off the medication this morning as I want to be mentally alert. The anti-histamine tablets were very strong.

Apetite has returned slightly - managed a cup of coffee and some toast. Took some photos of my face front and back.

New spots have appeared on the palm of my hands, base of my feet and a couple on my gums which are most uncomfortable. This is a dissapointment as I was hoping that any new spots would have stopped. Thankfully my eyes have escaped and my genitals, apart from a few spots, have come out of it relatively unscathed.

Here are some daily update pics -

Front   Back - Looking better

Face - Starting to Scab

14.00 hrs Tuesday
Took a phone call from work this afternoon, matters needed my attention and a certain amount of problem solving and activity for about 20 mins. This was not good and I had underestimated how I was feeling. It left me felling floored. I had hot sweats, increased itching and felt generally exhausted. I have returned to the anti-histamine medication to calm it all down again. Will go now to rest.

21.00 hrs Tuesday
Crahsed out for most of the day - feeling fine, problem now is that my sleep pattern is out of synch. Next door neighbour has kindly left me with a large number of DVD's to watch, this is a great moral booster and will watch one tonight. Skin is sensitive and starting to Scab. I was taking regular baths each day but now doing showers as I dont want the watter to soften the areas that are healing. The cotton t-shirt trick is still the best item of clothing on the planet.

Appetite not great, small meal but feeling stronger.

TOP - TIP - Cut your nails as short as possible as the temptation to pick the scabs is high.
